    Dear Mr. Redmayne,

You are a very talented young man. Although your success is deserved, I was disappointed to hear of your recent portrayl of a transgender. I have not seen the movie, but I can only imagine, that this movie glamorizes this lifestyle. Why is it that you assume, because you are talented, that you are also an expert in Theology and medical ethics? There are brilliant philosophers, theologians and ethics experts who have studied issues like this. Please do not take this the wrong way. In general, being a successful actor or actress does not make your religious or political opinions have merit or value. I find it saddening that young people like yourself seem to consistently choose Hollywood fame and success in which you support a moral issue but you have not truly studied the other side. I would ask that before you render an opinion or support an issue through the roles you play on moral issues such as these, that you study the other side and listen to their arguments. More specifically, reading John Paul II’s Theology of the Body would be a good place to start. Obviously, you can choose not to read it, but it is my greatest hope that you would. All of this being said, I loved you in Les Miserables. Even my 17 year old son, who is an excellent pianist and does not usually like musicals, was deeply touched by your ability to reach into the very soul of your audience. Please give Christianity a second look and best of luck to you. Stay humble.

    Sincerely,

    Catherine
