New albeit old pictures of some of Eddie’s theatre productions have surfaced (thanks to Nadia!). The pictures which you can now find in our gallery were taken by Simon Annand and show Eddie about to go on stage for the two Michael Grandage productions he did at the Donmar Warehouse: “Red” in 2009 and “Richard II” in 2011 as well as backstage pictures from Dominic Cooke’s “Now or Later” in 2008 at the Royal Court. Enjoy!

If you have never heard about him you don’t have to feel guilty. The Theory of everything is his very first important role. If you don’t understand how an Academy Awards could go to someone you’ve never heard about (and DiCaprio never got one), you must see his portray of Stephen Hawking.
Thirty-three years old, English, good and wealthy family, right studies, (Eton first and History of Art at Cambridge then), newlyweds with Hannah Bagshawe – antiquarian with whom he shares a nose not exactly perfect and to whom he pointed his finger to when he got the award saying “Hannah, I love you so much” – Edward John David Redmayne – called Eddie – stays to Hollywood business as Rania di Giordania stays to 7Eleven.Continue Reading (…)
The first official picture of Eddie as Lili Elbe in “The Danish Girl” has been released which has us really excited about the project. The film is currently in production and is directed by Tom Hooper (“Les Misérables“) and is based on the David Ebershoff novel about Lili Elbe, an early 20th-century Danish artist who was born as a man named Einar Wegener and received one of the earliest sex-change operations. Earlier in the year, Eddie spoke to The Telegraph about the project:
“There’s extraordinary bravery and brilliant people that I’ve met, so I’m hoping it will be an interesting experience. There is an incredibly valid discussion for why a trans actress isn’t playing the part, because there are so many brilliant trans actresses, and I’m sure there are many who could play this part sensationally, But one of the complications is that nowadays you have hormones, and many trans women have taken hormones. But to start this part playing male you’d have to come off the hormones, so that has been a discussion as well. Because back in that period there weren’t hormones.”
And sticking to “The Danish Girl“, a lovely picture of Eddie on the set of the film with his “little fella“, the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role was released this week which you can check out in our gallery! He seems to have jumped back into working straight after the Academy Awards as it has been announced he is lending his voice to the character of Ryan in the new Thomas the Tank Engine film which is to be released in the autumn.
“I grew up loving to watch Thomas and his pals getting caught up in unexpected and mischievous adventures. I jumped at the opportunity to get involved, and what fun it was. I have never voiced an animated character before, and I had a complete blast”.
It’s a very special night tonight for two reasons – First, it’s The Oscars! And secondly, it’s the website 7th anniversary which is very exciting! If you’d like to see our first post, click here or how the website used to look back then, click here. We’ve surely come a long way!
But in more interesting news, a very smiley albeit nervous Eddie has appeared on the 87th Annual Academy Awards red carpet looking dapper in a navy and black McQueen tuxedo! I have added the first pictures to the gallery. I’ll of course be updating and adding more throughout this very special night so make sure to keep checking back!
Wishing Eddie the best luck and sending him positive vibes from across the pond! We’re keeping our fingers crossed so that he brings the best actor award home.
