We are very excited about the DVD release next week of what’s possibly every Redmayniac’s favourite film, “The Theory of Everything”; and to celebrate, we are bringing you this exclusive featurette with behind-the-scenes footage of Professor Stephen Hawking’s visit on set while they were filming one of the most stunning scenes from the film with comments from Eddie, Felicity and director James Marsh as well as Prof. Stephen Hawking himself!
“The Theory of Everything” is out on Blu-ray and DVD on May 11th. Click here to pre-order it now!
You can now find in our gallery high quality screencaptures of Eddie in “The Theory of Everything“. The film is already out on DVD in the US but here in the UK we have to wait until May 11th so hopefully this update will tide you over until then.
Directed by James Marsh, this visually stunning film stars Eddie as theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking alongside the talented Felicity Jones and Charlie Cox. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last September and has since then received numerous accolades in various film festivals and award shows. Most notably, the film won Outstanding British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2015 BAFTAs. And of course, we can’t forget to mention Eddie has won a Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA and the coveted Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in this film.
On the other hand, thanks to the lovely Celyn from Felicity Jones Fan I have added hundreds of screencaptures of Eddie in his role of Marius in “Les Miserables“. Enjoy!
Earlier in the year, Eddie launched Into Film – an education charity that seeks to put film at the heart of children and young people’s learning and cultural experience. During the UK press junket, seventeen year old Harry had the chance to interview the cast of “The Theory of Everything” and you can watch it below!
It is a known fact that Eddie fully believes in enabling young people access to the film industry professionals.
“One of the things that I love about the Into Film programme is the idea that practitioners from the film world – producers or actors or cinematographers – come back and talk to young people so they can kind of see behind the scenes. One of the most important things about film that I’ve found astounding is how many people work in it. There’s something for everyone in the film world.”
“Often as a kid we’ll go and see the big blockbusters, we take it for granted them being there for entertainment – but if you look a bit harder and you ask the questions after… it can be so inspiring.”

The first clip from “The Theory of Everything” has been released! Can’t wait for all the promotional sneak peeks we are going to get in the run up to the release next month so keep checking back. For now, you can watch the clip below!
Eddie is on the cover of the newest issue of Intelligent Life magazine with a very interesting feature inside in which journalist Clemency Burton-Hill follows him through the process of becoming Stephen Hawking as he prepared for his role in The Theory of Everything. Make sure to grab a copy at your nearest newstands but for now, you can read the article online here.
“My grandma was a great worrier and I think I inherited that from her. I worry that it takes me longer than most actors to really… embed things.” As he often does when discussing his work, Redmayne slips into the second person. “So the thing that gets you out of bed at the crack of dawn is the knowledge that you’re going to be judged for it, in front of an audience. It is a great driving factor, the stakes being high.”
We are all really excited about the release of The Theory of Everything next month and to tide you over until the release of the film, I have added some very beautiful new stills and the scans from the newest issue of Vanity Fair, check them out!
